Mike Nord, Director of Dining Services

With a culinary and a business degree, Mike came to Peace Village from a private country club and he has been tending to residents' taste buds for 18 years and the food truly speaks for itself. Keeping the importance of variety in mind, the dinner menu includes three meal choices for independent living residents. Mike aims to keep ingredients seasonal and serve foods that provide a little comfort as well, with options that cater to all types of diets. Mike is proud to keep the lines of communication open with the residents because their satisfaction is the primary goal. The Resident Food Committee is a very visible part of the dining experience, so that residents can make formal suggestions on new menu options. Mike and the team take suggestions to heart, and with a six-week meal rotation plan, every week the staff recreates and shuffles the menu. Every evening, Mike welcomes residents’ questions, compliments,  and suggestions about the meal, and their input is valued.

As the Director of Dining Services, Mike takes pride in his positive and friendly relationships with all of the residents. “We know each new resident’s name the night after he or she is introduced to us,” says Mike. “At Peace Village, the dining experience is personal and comfortable. The atmosphere is designed with the resident in mind. We know that this generation values the chance to gather around the table at the end of the day with family and that’s what we strive to give them.”
